In order to upload contacts to PULSE by Penny via spreadsheet, the file format must be in .csv -- here are the steps to do so from various origins.

Hot Tip: The spreadsheet column headers must match the same as our sample spreadsheet. Download the sample spreadsheet or sample csv to ensure your contacts are formatted correctly.

Converting from a .VCF (vCard)

When you download a copy of your contacts from iCloud or me.com, the file it saves is the widely-used file format called: vCard (.vcf). If you’d like to import your contacts to your PULSE by Penny account, you will need to convert the .vcf file into a Comma Separated Values (.csv) file first.

1 - In Windows File Explorer, navigate to your Contacts folder (for example, C:\Users\UserName\Contacts), then click "Import".

2 - From the list of file formats displayed in the box, select vCard (VCF file), then click "Import".

3 - Navigate to the VCF contacts file you wish to import. Each of the contact records will be displayed. Click the "OK" button on each to import it. Click "Close" when you’ve finished importing your contacts.

Then, select the contacts you wish to convert to .csv format or use CTRL-A to select them all. Got them all selected? Great! Click the "Export" button.

4 - Select Comma Separated Values (CSV) from the list of file formats displayed on the screen. Click the "Export" button.

5 - Enter a name for your exported file and use the "Browse" button to find a location in which to save the file. Click "Next" to proceed. Now, select the fields you wish to export and click "Finish".

Exported fields

6 - That's it! Your selected contacts will be exported to a .csv file.

Converting From A Numbers File

If a CSV file is opened on a Mac it will automatically open in the Numbers app, it will then need to be saved as a CSV again.

1 - Select File>Export To>CSV...

Next up, upload your CSV to your PULSE by Penny contacts. Click below to learn how!
